Chkalov Shopping Mall — Interiors
Moscow, Kursky Railway Station Square, 1.

ABOUT
BLANK has developed the interior design concept for the central atrium of the shopping mall as a part of Dom Chkalov complex — a new architectural landmark of the city center, located between Kursky Railway Station and the Atrium shopping center. The project emphasizes the dynamism of Moscow, creating a space where futuristic aesthetics blend seamlessly with advanced technological solutions and visitor comfort. Inside the mall, flagship stores and unique tenants will be featured, including Zolotoe Yabloko and Yandex. The atrium becomes the central element of logistics and the emotional perception of the shopping center.
THE BIG IDEA
The interior design reflects the fusion of physical and digital experiences. The snow-white, transparent atrium is not only a crossroads for visitor flows but also a stage for visual impressions, events, and branded installations. In the digital epoch, the project creates an emotionally rich environment where architecture, lighting, and materials work together to strengthen brand presence and deliver a memorable customer experience.
DESIGN
The central atrium unfolds through a multi-level structure with open views across all floors. The visually weightless space is organized around escalators and suspended architectural elements, forming a dynamic composition and an overall sense of lightness. The materials include matte and gradient glass, curved aquapanels, poured floorsЧкалов, decorative metal accents, and integrated lighting. The combination of soft, rounded forms with clear geometry lends the space a contemporary and elegant character.

FUNCTIONS
The atrium integrates shopping galleries, waiting areas, art objects, digital screens. The layout is designed with event activities in mind. The interior ensures smooth navigation between anchor tenants and smaller stores, while the visual environment enhances the brand experience.
LIGHTING AND ATMOSPHERE
The atrium’s lighting concept combines built-in track and linear fixtures, decorative pendants, and concealed contour lighting along architectural elements. It creates a sense of lightness and airiness, highlights key areas, and draws attention to interior details. In the evening, the atrium transforms into a spectacular event space with flexible lighting adjustments tailored to specific occasions.
